Could a new ‘vocab of values’ reframe and elevate sustainability in a chaotic world?

Vocab Of Values

‘Drill, baby, drill’ is one of defining phrases of this decade – and the sterile framing of ‘Net Zero’ has failed to compete. As voters turn to climate-sceptic populist politicians and net zero policies and targets are rolled back, we ask whether the sustainability community has lost the war of words – and if so, what can we do to re-engage with the public conversation? Could a new ‘vocab of values’ reframe sustainability in a way that speaks better to the joys and anxieties of our everyday lives?

On 24th April, Salterbaxter is hosted a webinar exploring how language, framing and storytelling can reshape the sustainability conversation for success in a new era. We explored how businesses, brands, and sustainability leaders can communicate with impact in a complex and chaotic environment.

Our panel brought together diverse voices representing the media, activism and policy including Lucy Siegle, writer, broadcaster and regular reporter on environmental issues for The One Show; Jamila Brown, activist and social impact strategist; and Chris Hines MBE, environmental advocate.
